Central and West Integration Network Burns Event

On Saturday 1st February 2020, we had the opportunity to perform at a multicultural Burns celebration event being run by the Central and West Integration Network. Attendees were treated to a traditional meal of haggis and heard a recitation of a couple of Burns poems ("To A Louse" and "To A Mouse") as well as a short history of the life of the Scottish bard.

There were also poems and readings by people from several different countries including Iraq, India and El Salvador. We sang a selection of Burns' songs and finished our performance with 'Caledonia', identifying with those who had left their homelands behind and come to live in Scotland. It was lovely to be part of such a truly multicultural event!
