Learn To Sing For Complete Beginners
Discover your hidden voice with our 12-Week Beginners Singing Course for women!
Please register your interest if you would like to take part in our next Course.
Why is this Course for me?
This course is for you:
- If you’ve always wanted to sing but haven’t quite plucked up the confidence to try
- If you’ve always thought that singing was a skill you were born with and couldn’t learn
- If anybody has ever told you, “you can’t sing”, “shut up” or “stand at the back and mime”
We believe that everyone can learn to sing and we created this course to enable you to take one step at a time and start to develop a voice that you will be proud to share!
How Does The Course Work?
It is a 12-week course, full of all the good stuff you need to know to start your singing journey. The Course is comprised of 12 face-to-face Classes* plus 4 Headstart Videos packed with helpful information.
As well as putting your new knowledge into practice by working on songs and experiencing the joy of singing together, you will also develop your musical ear, discover more about your own voice, and find out how to select material, practise effectively and perform with confidence.
(*If it is not practical for you to join us in Glasgow for the face-to-face classes, you can take part by joining us online.)
How Much Does It Cost?
The Course costs £168, which must be paid in full, but rather than charging you the total amount up front, we enable you to spread the cost across the duration of the course by paying £14.00 per week.
Places on the Course are limited, so book your spot early to avoid disappointment. Please note that the Course may not run if we do not achieve the minimum level of participants.
What will I learn in the Course?
We will provide you with the foundations for a lifetime of healthy singing, including:
- Effective breathing and breath control for good sound production
- Improving your vocal tone
- Recognizing and reproducing accurate pitch
- Understanding beat and rhythm
- Clear diction and communicating your story
- How to become a more confident performer
What happens after the Course?
Once you have completed our Beginners Singing Course, you can join one of our regular Songbirds Singing Groups. Don’t worry if that sounds a bit scary, we’ve made the transition easier with a 6-week Intermediate follow-up, where you can continue to hone your skills and build your confidence before becoming a fully-fledged Songbird!
Where and when do the face-to-face classes take place?
We run all of our Singing Groups at the Glasgow Unitarians Centre at 72 Berkeley St, Glasgow G3 7DS. The face-to-face classes, for the Beginners Singing Course, run on Tuesday evenings (7.00 - 9.00pm).
(We are using the Zoom video conferencing app for our online Singing Classes. Once you have signed up, we will send you details of how to download and optimize the app for singing, and how to join the session.)
