Pitch Perfect Or Florence Foster Jenkins By Joanne
As we neared the end of March, our third singing workshop of 2017 with Dynamic Meladies took place focussing on pitch.
I approached this with apprehension and a slight fear, especially after having watched Florence Foster Jenkins the week before. Meryl Streep’s performance of the early mid-20th Century socialite and “soprano” gave me shivers; consistently flat and deviating from pitch, in fact I was completely unable to decipher any of the words she (Meryl) was attempting to “sing” whilst impersonating poor Florence. Was this mocked “singer” even aware of her inability to sing in tune? (Has President Trump actually seen any of Meryl Streep’s films? Anyone who can sing so badly publicly deserves an acting award!)

Saturday 7 January 2017 – Dynamic Meladies’ First Meet of the New Year
Well, had any of us done any singing since before Christmas? Karen wanted to know. I’d had the flu and was still coughing, but had had a go at a few scales whilst driving my van the day before, making sure to do this very quietly at traffic lights, and hoping the Police didn’t stop me for driving with my mouth wide open (you should be able to place two fingers between your top and bottom teeth, whilst doing scales – not pretty but apparently good for you).
Feel The Burns By Joanne
Hello Ladies, and a huge welcome back to the first session of Dynamic Meladies in 2017.
Don’t worry about the title of this Blog, it did not involve any extreme physical exertion, muscle fatigue, sweating, or pounding the pavements in order to achieve weight loss following our festive indulgences.
Reflections On Singing With Dynamic Meladies By Joanne
As 2016 draws to a close I want to share something with you, I discovered in Spring of 2016 the most amazing group of ladies who sing for fun- it’s called Dynamic Meladies, run by the lovely Sheena and Karen.
Having never sung or performed at any stage in my life, and I’m now in my 40s, I found this group by luck, chance or fate, on the internet, and thought it sounded like a fun way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday morning.
Dynamic Meladies Performance 8th October 2016 – A Cat’s Eye View
Mummy is a little bit stressed.
We know this because we are highly sensitive animals, completely attuned to her every mood; and because, this morning, she tried to put cherry tomatoes in her porridge.
This is because she has a ‘gig’. We’re not sure what that is exactly. Porshy thinks it might be a bit like a visit to the vet- kind of scary beforehand but quite nice when you’re there; but I think it’s something to do with where she disappears to on a Saturday morning while we have a lie in with Daddy.
