Strawberry Teas Forever!

For the past two years, one of the highlights of our summer at Dynamic Meladies has been the opportunity to perform at the Strawberry Tea event run by the charity Mothers Care India.

This year, with the world in lockdown and live performance impossible for the moment, we decided to run our own Strawberry Tea party online.

Keeping our classes running during lockdown (Bless you, Zoom!) has been really important to us, and connecting with and singing with our ladies every week has helped all of us through a strange and difficult time.

So, on Saturday 18th of July, we donned our floral frocks, armed ourselves with Prosecco and strawberries, and settled ourselves in front of our screens for a ‘Virtual Strawberry Tea’. We sang our way through a typical performance set, just as we would have live, but without the rain! We're finding ways round the limitations of technology, and we managed complex harmonies with a mix of live vocals and recorded tracks.

We can't hear everyone, but a screen full of smiling, dancing and clapping ladies was a delight to see.

We followed the performance with a fiendish music quiz, to test the brain cells (Congratulations, Cath!), before ending with the premiere of our latest recording, with vocals submitted by the ladies individually and mixed lovingly by Sheena. It's a joy to hear everyone together again. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can do it in person. On which note - best wishes to the ladies at Mothers Care India - we missed you!
