September Song

After all the lovely sunshine we've had over the last few months, September might feel like a little bit of a let-down. Officially, September is an autumn month, so it heralds the end of summer and, already, we are starting to see the nights draw in. It doesn't seem so long ago that we were leaving our Wednesday evening Singing Sessions after 9.00pm and driving home in beautiful sunshine. Now the street lights are on and the evening air is cooler.

We might mourn the passing of the summer and the busy round of activities it brings with it but the autumn brings its own opportunities.

If January seems like a long time ago, and all of your New Year resolutions are a distant memory (if you remember them at all!), September offers another chance for fresh beginnings. The summer holiday season is coming to an end, the children are back at school and students will soon be heading off to college and university. This is your chance to take some time for yourself and take up the activities you've always promised yourself you would, when you had more time.

You know how it goes, "I'll do it when the kids are older/work is not so busy/the repairs to the house are done...", the list is endless but the result is the same. You never quite get around to doing something for yourself. Our September challenge to you is to finally take that step and do the activity you've always promised yourself you would. Sign yourself up and don't let anything get in your way!

The changing of the seasons can have an emotional and physical effect on us and singing is a great way to connect with our emotions and lift our spirits. It's a really good physical workout (ask our ladies!) and leaves you with a real sense of well-being. Singing in a group offers the chance to make new friends too, something that can be more difficult to do as we get older and have less opportunities to meet people socially.

So, are you up for our challenge in September? Whatever activity you decide to take up, go into wholeheartedly. The usual day-to-day chores will still be there - you'll still have to wash the dishes, feed the cat etc. - but you might just find you have more energy for them.

Portia & Pebbles advocate cat feeding!

If singing is your thing, we'd love to have you join us at Dynamic Meladies! See our Singing Sessions page for more information about our classes.
